Inspector / Machinist\n\nSalary: £17.70 per hour plus shift allowance at 12.5%\nHours: 37.5 hours per week\nShifts: Rotational shifts: Days & Afternoons\nLocation: Sheffield, S9\nContract: Full-Time | PermanentThe Role:\n\nWe're looking for a highly detail-focused Inspector / Machinist to support inspection and CNC machining processes, ensuring all products meet strict medical and customer specifications. \n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nPerform visual and dimensional inspections\nComplete DIR reports and OGP scanning\nUse precision measuring equipment (callipers, verniers, micrometers)\nRecord results accurately in Excel and internal systems\nReject and quarantine non-conforming product\nSet, load, and operate CNC machines\nVerify parts against engineering drawings and tolerances\nComplete route cards, inspection sheets, and traceability documentation\nEscalate quality or machine issues promptly\nSupport Lean, 5S, and EHS initiatives Essential Criteria:\n\nProven experience in CNC machining and/or inspection\nStrong ability to use measurement tools (verniers, callipers, micrometres)\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings & GD&T\nExperience working to tight tolerances\nGood working knowledge of quality control processes\nCompetent in Microsoft Excel and basic IT systems\nStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilityDesirable Criteria:\n\nExperience within medical device, aerospace, or other regulated industries\nFamiliarity with OGP / CMM inspection equipment\nKnowledge of ISO 13485 or similar quality standards\nPrevious experience with traceability and batch control\nUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement\nApprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)Behavioural & Performance Criteria:\n\nDemonstrates a "right first time" quality mind set\nStrong accountability and ownership of work\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nEffective communication skills across departments\nFlexible approach to shift work and production demands\nCommitment to health, safety, and compliance standards Why Apply?\n\nCompetitive hourly rate with structured shifts\nJoin a globally recognised manufacturer\nWork on life-changing products\nClear pathway to develop within precision engineering & quality
