Head of Hedge Fund Operations

Martis Search are representing a highly regarded boutique investment institution based in Mayfair in the search for a permanent “Head of Hedge Fund Operations.”

Reporting directly into the COO, this is a senior-level growth opportunity offering broad operational oversight across a multi-asset class hedge fund platform. The successful candidate will manage a small team of Operations and Trade Support professionals whilst acting as a key strategic partner to the COO in the continued enhancement and transformation of the Operations function.

This position would suit an experienced Hedge Fund Operations Manager or existing Head of Operations with strong people management capabilities, a deep understanding of the trade lifecycle, and proven experience overseeing operational processes, controls, and change initiatives within an investment management environment.

The role combines both strategic oversight and hands-on operational responsibility, making it an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys improving infrastructure whilst remaining close to daily trading operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and mentoring a small Hedge Fund Operations/ Trade Support team
• Acting as a strategic right-hand partner to the COO
• Assisting with the redesign and enhancement of the Operations framework, controls, and processes
• Overseeing operational workflow allocation, quality control, and staff development
• Supporting new fund launches and broader operational project work
• Managing day-to-day Hedge Fund Operations responsibilities across multiple asset classes and strategies
• Building strong relationships with Prime Brokers, counterparties, and internal stakeholders

Day-to-Day Operational Responsibilities

• Trade Booking and Trade Capture
• Full Trade Lifecycle Management
• Settlements
• Cash, Stock & PnL Reconciliations
• NAV Oversight, Valuations & Fund Accounting support
• Treasury Operations
• Prime Broker liaison
• Operational and strategic project work

Asset Classes & Strategies Covered

The Operations team supports a broad range of multi-asset class trading activity, including:

• Equities
• Fixed Income
• FX
• OTC & ETD Derivatives
• Commodities

The hedge fund platform covers a variety of strategies including (to name but a few):

• Equity Long / Short
• Global Macro
• Fixed Income
• Event Driven

Candidate Requirements

• Extensive Hedge Fund Operations experience at Operations Manager or Head of Operations level
• Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle across multiple asset classes
• Previous experience managing teams, operational processes, and change initiatives
• Sound knowledge of NAVs, valuations, and Fund Administration / Fund Accounting processes
• Excellent organisational skills and high attention-to-detail
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Candidates from boutique Asset Management or Hedge Fund environments will be particularly well suited. However, our client is also open to considering individuals from wider Financial Services Operations backgrounds who possess strong operational fundamentals and are interested in transitioning into a Hedge Fund environment.

Technical Skills (Advantageous but not Essential)

Experience with any of the following would be highly beneficial:

• VBA
• Python
• SQL
• Power BI
• Tableau

These tools are used to help produce data visualisation and management information reporting for Fund Managers, including reporting relating to NAV’s, valuations, and investment performance analysis.

Working Arrangement

• 4-days per week in the office
• 1-day per week working from home
