Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Drainage Engineer to come and join a busy client in the Manchester area to support the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) in managing flood risk and surface water drainage within the authority area. \n\n The role involves reviewing planning applications, assessing drainage strategies, undertaking drainage design work, and ensuring compliance with national and local flood risk and sustainable drainage policies. \n\nThe main duties of the experienced Drainage Engineer are:\n\nReview and assess planning applications for compliance with local and national flood risk and drainage policies.\nProvide LLFA consultation responses on planning applications relating to surface water drainage.\nAssess Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Drainage Strategies submitted with development proposals.\nEnsure development proposals meet Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) standards and guidance (e.g., Non-Statutory Technical Standards for SuDS).\nLiaise with planning officers, developers, and consultants to resolve drainage-related issues.\nUndertake or review drainage design calculations for surface water management.\nAssess drainage networks including attenuation systems, infiltration systems, and discharge controls.\nReview hydraulic modelling outputs and drainage layouts.\nEnsure drainage proposals meet required greenfield runoff rates, storage volumes, and climate change allowances.\n\nFor a full description and further information on the role, please call Harriet Simmonds at Carrington West on (phone number removed).
